A Letter to a Generous Stranger
Dear Stranger,
I don’t know your name. I don’t know where you’re from. And now, almost 10 hours after the accident, I wish I had at least taken the time to learn your name. Because, of all the faces I saw today, yours was the first that brought hope when I felt helpless. It brought strength when I felt weak. Of course, you probably didn’t know that when you pulled over and asked if I was okay. It was probably second nature to offer a warm spot in your car and wait with me ‘til the police came.
To me, you are a hero. A hero that should be recognized and acknowledged more than the firm hand shake and “thank you” I gave you before the police asked you to leave. I may never feel that I have thanked you enough, but to be given a second chance would mean the world to myself and my family.
