Welcome back, Patch Blogger!
Editor: I am writing in support of Kevin Sullivan and his candidacy for a position on the Chatham Township Committee. I have known Kevin and his family for almost 10 years and as neighbors for the past seven years. I am consistently impressed by Kevin’s energy, enthusiasm, creativity and commitment.  I have worked alongside Kevin in a number of school, parish, and athletic leadership roles in Chatham.  As the athletic director, coach, and a long time board member of St. Patrick School’s Athletic Association, Kevin regularly applied his leadership experience in expanding programs and building …
Dear Editor: I would like to encourage all Chatham Township Republicans and Independents to vote for Laura Ali Nonnenmacher in the June 5 Primary Election. I know her to be a proven leader in the school community as District Cabinet President and Southern Boulevard School’s PTO president, where she was called upon nearly every day to serve. We need leaders with successful track records to mobilize people into action. When Laura is elected as a Committewoman for the Township of Chatham, we will all be lucky to have her energy and her 19-year knowledge of the people and places of the township…
To the editor: I am writing this letter to ask the Chatham Township voters to elect Laura Ali Nonnemacher to the Chatham Township Committee in the upcoming Republican primary election. I have had the opportunity to work with Laura on the Southern Boulevard School Parent Teacher Organization (SBS PTO) where she served as President in 2010. Based on my experience with Laura, I am confident she would add tremendous value to the Chatham Township government. She is a results oriented leader, whose straight-forward, no-nonsense approach is desperately needed in today's political climate.   During…
To the Editor: Laura Ali Nonnenmacher. You’ve seen the signs. I know the woman. Neighbors for almost 20 years now, I have seen the passion, dedication, commitment, smarts and innovation Laura brings to every endeavor – business, personal or volunteer activity. Laura will bring all of that and more to serve the citizens of Chatham Township.  We hear often today of our collective loss of trust in institutions. Institutions are only as good as the people within. That is why Chatham Township will be fortunate to have someone like Laura on the Township Committee. And that is why I urge you to vote…
To the editor: I strongly recommend Kevin Sullivan to serve as Chatham Township Committeeman. He is very qualified to serve our residents. He has been a township resident for over 20 years. His daughter attends Chatham High School. He has coached at St. Patrick School and the Township Recreation program and he and his wife are active in St. Patrick Church. I have worked with Kevin on the Planning Board and he has always been fair, recognizing  each resident's property rights, but can be tough on developers. He is willing to commit the time required to serve on the Township Committee, and also…
To the editor: Hello, my name is Joanne Rosenberg and I am a resident of Chatham Township. I am writing you to tell you about why I think Laura Nonnenmacher would be great for Township Committee. Laura was our PTO president at Southern Boulevard School in 2010. That year was the best our school has ever seen. Laura’s enthusiasm and innovative ideas helped transform our school. She has fantastic ideas and really motivates people to take action. Under her leadership the fundraising for our school was incredible. Laura is a personable, conscientious, honest person who  brings people from all …
To the editor: My name is Frank Esposito. My wife, Laura , and I are retired seniors who have resided in  Chatham Township for over 10 years. I am a member of the Township Environment Committee. I am endorsing Laura Ali Nonnenmacher for Township Committee. I feel that Laura is the best person for the job. She is a successful business woman, a model citizen, and a terrific parent. As a concerned senior citizen, I feel that Laura will look out for my best interests and support senior programs. She has the knowledge and experience to get and keep our taxes low. She has been a leader in the …
To the editor: I am proud to endorse Kevin Sullivan for Chatham Township Committee. I have known Kevin for over 10 years. I was fortunate to serve on the board with Kevin for the St. Patrick School Athletic Association. I witnessed first hand his dedication as a coach for the basketball, track and cross-country programs.  He was also essential in organizing the 5K Race in memory of the Rev. Edward J. Hinds. Additionally, he served as the Morris County Catholic Youth League Representative for numerous years. Kevin was invaluable to the youth sports programs and it would not of run as …
Dear Editor, I am writing in support of my friend Laura Ali Nonnenmacher, a candidate for Chatham Township Committee. It is rare to find someone as dedicated and passionate as Laura.  She has been a strong advocate for Chatham residents for many years, volunteering her time to speak for policies that benefit taxpayers and students as the President of the South Boulevard Parent Teacher Organization.  In addition to her volunteer work, Laura owns her own small business, which gives her a practical perspective on budgets and finance. On a personal level, Laura is kind, helpful and sincere in her…
To the editor: This letter is sent in full support of Laura Ali Nonnemacher in the Republican Primary for the Chatham Township Committee.  On several occasions Laura has spoken with me, a member of the New Providence Borough Council, concerning opportunities for our neighboring towns to collaborate and pursue shared services.  Her innovative ideas are sure to benefit both communities.  I have worked with Laura on several successful projects.  Laura’s outstanding leadership abilities, innate intelligence, and strong commitment to her community will serve her well on the Chatham Township …
To the editor: I am writing as a long time resident of Chatham and a business leader to endorse Laura Ali Nonnenmacher for Chatham Township committee.  I lead a large practice within one of the largest global professional services firms and as such have over 25 years experience in the global business community. I believe it is imperative that we have people representing us in Chatham who understand business and bring these disciplines to our community and our local government.  Laura has the experience and the objectivity to find solutions that work while maintaining a business approach to …
Dear Editor, I am writing this letter to ask Chatham Township voters to support Kevin Sullivan in the upcoming Republican Primary for Chatham Township Committee.   I have known Kevin for well over a decade. He has been a tireless volunteer in the community with the Knights of Columbus, with the St. Patrick School athletic programs as a track coach, basketball coach and league liason and for the last several years as a member of the Chatham Township Planning Board. He is a man of integrity, good judgement and character. His military and business background will serve him well in this new role…
To the Editor: I am writing in support of Laura Ali Nonnenmacher’s candidacy for a spot on the Chatham Township committee.   In my three years on the Board of Education for the School District of the Chathams, I worked with Laura on education issues. She has served in leadership positions in the Chatham Parent Teacher Organization. She is a very active, action-oriented person and is generous with Chatham Education Foundation and other civic causes.  I’m certain she will make a fine addition to Chatham Township government.  I served with her husband John on the Board of Education and know that…
To the editor: It has been 19 years since Jimmy and I opened the doors at Angie's Family Restaurant on Main Street in Chatham. During that time, we've met and served thousands of people. Over Breakfast, Lunch, & countless cups of coffee, so many of you have become friends. Even so, your response during our biggest setback has been such a wonderful surprise and we wanted to express our heartfelt thanks! First, we'd like to thank all the fire departments that responded to the tragic fire that occurred on Sunday, Feb. 26. We are grateful to their quick response.  Second, we would like to thank …
Dear Editor,One of the reasons we all love living in Chatham is the sense of community and the camaraderie of neighbor helping neighbor. This coming Saturday brings us another opportunity to work together for a greater cause. The Chatham High Cougar Baseball and Softball teams are hosting a small tournament in hopes of raising funds and awareness for Breast Cancer. This is the second annual Chatham Invitational Tournament and hopes are that it grows each year. Saturday, April 14 at 1 p.m. is the first game. Softball plays at Chatham Middle School and baseball plays at Chatham High School. …
To the Editor: The Board of the Friends of the Library of the Chathams would like to thank all who made our 2012 Book Sale such a resounding success. A big thank you goes to the Woman’s Club of Chatham for allowing us to use their room. We would like to thank the local residents who donated over 30,000 thousand books and media. Chatham Moving and Storage set up a ramp which made it easier for us to bring the books out of the storage room. The Chatham Courier provided great news coverage, the Dairymen at ShopRite and Kings supplied us with numerous OJ boxes and the liquor stores contributed …
To the Chatham Township Committee: I continue to be opposed to the creation of a conditional use ordinance which would permit a commercial farm business to operate in residential neighborhoods. By passing a conditional use ordinance as the township committee has chosen to do, this potential use had not being held to the same standard and scrutiny as any other development or non-conforming use. If “so many people” feel that farming and the placement of a business is such a good idea in a residential neighborhood then let the issue stand on it’s own merit in front of the [Zoning] Board of …
Dear President Belding, members of the Board of Education (BOE) and Assistant Superintendent LaSusa: I understand that the BOE will be considering the adoption of A-4394/S-3148 at its meeting on Monday, Feb. 6. In short, through this legislation, the election date of school board members would occur in November at the time of the general election rather than in April and the public’s right to vote annually on the school district budget would be eliminated so long as such budget does not exceed the statutory tax levy cap (i.e. 2% greater than the prior year).   I oppose adoption of A-4394/S-…
Dear Editor: Serving as the Mayor of Chatham Borough was an honor, even though it was only for 23 days.  Thank you to Borough Council for appointing me to the interim position, and to the Chatham Borough Democratic Committee for nominating me. I would also like to thank the former mayors who gave me advice and guidance.  I would especially like to thank the Borough employees and volunteers who assisted me. Their dedication and time are a big part of what makes Chatham Borough a great town. Finally, I would encourage my fellow citizens to volunteer.  Lend some of your time and expertise to our…
Dear Editor: I would like to congratulate Nick Eck for an outstanding job at the Dec. 12 Chatham Borough Council meeting. Nick took over as mayor when Nelson Vaughan abruptly resigned the day after he lost his re-election bid to Council Member Bruce Harris. The Borough Council made a great choice appointing Nick. He has a genial manner and was clear and easy to understand. Janice Perrone Chatham Borough
