Win Tickets to See The Kennedys
The Sanctuary Concerts kick off their 2012-13 concert season with this folk/pop duo.
The Sanctuary Concert Series is back for another season, and they will open this year with The Kennedys.
This folk/pop duo, consisting of married couple Pete and Maura will take a break from their tour with Nanci Griffith to perform at the Sanctuary Concert Series Saturday.
The couple met in 1992 when they were both members of Griffith's band. Since striking out on their own in 1994, Sanctuary Concert head Scott Sheldon said they "have been remarkable in their virtuosity and their prolific creative output."
In the 18 years the couple have performed, they have released 11 albums as a pair and a further 11 with other performers, either as a couple or individual collaborators. Entertainment Weekly described their musical creations as "gorgeous boy-girl harmonies and catchy tunes."
Sheldon said the Kennedys' "tight harmonies, their chemistry, and their unashamedly idealistic outlook" as the key to their success over nearly two decades of making music.
The concert begins at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township. The $15 admission fee includes a pot luck dinner, and attendants are welcome to bring dishes to share. To purchase tickets, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (973) 376-4946.
