Chatham Borough Police confirmed a large truck has been cleared from Fairmount Avenue after being stuck under the railroad overpass for over 9 hours.

The truck collided with the overpass bridge at the intersection of Fairmount Avenue and Railroad Plaza at approximately noon Monday. The driver tried to maneuver the truck beneath the bridge, which has a posted height of 11 ft. 10 in.

Both the cab and trailer sustained significant damage in the collision. Bridge removal services were on the scene by 12:40.

Chatham Patch will update this story as further information becomes available.

My real worry is - does this truck driver know how to read? The height sign was clearly posted - does he not understand that he needs to be aware of how high his truck is?????
