Poll: Nervous About Getting Prescriptions from CVS?

Some residents say they are, others say no.

Chatham residents and customers at on Main Street are split on whether they have confidence in prescriptions filled at CVS.

The pharmacy is by the New Jersey Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) into the recent comingling of Tamoxifen, a breast cancer treatment drug, with children's fluoride.

Several Chatham residents said the error was an honest mistake.

"I've been getting my prescriptions [at CVS] for years and years and years. It's always been fine," Rick Williams, a Chatham resident for 33 years, said. "If someone made a mistake, that happens."

Ellen Anderson and Denise Brown both said  they were not nervous about having their medications filled at CVS. Anderson said now might be the best time to fill a prescription at CVS, since "they are probably more aware right now."

Pat Wisneski said she has known the pharmacist at CVS for years, and has every faith in him. "They are not staffing well enough," she said. "The pharmacist is a good man and I think he does a good job, but when you decrease staff, errors can be made."

With the "astronomical" numbers of prescriptions filled at CVS, Wisneski said, "they're cutting back too much." Still, she said, "making mistakes is human."

Other Chatham Patch readers are not so understanding. Diane Dellicker left a comment on the . She said the error was "unconscionable" and asked, "whatever happened to double-checking?"

Maryann wrote the mix-up was "outrageous. I do not use that CVS but I will never go to another CVS because of this."
