House Fire Causes No Injuries in Chatham Twp.
The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
A small house fire on Fairmount Avenue in Chatham Township was quickly brought under control by local departments Thursday night, and no injuries were reported from the scene.
Township Fire Chief Jim Pignatello, Jr. said the department received the call at 8:06 p.m. He said it took only one hose line to bring the fire under control, "despite freezing temperatures."
Lt. Steven Hennelly said two township officers, Michael Bloom and Michael Sawyer, were the first to arrive at the scene and were able to put most of the fire out using the extinguishers carried in their patrol cars.
The Chatham Township Fire Department, Green Village Fire Department, Chatham Borough Fire Department and Chatham Emergency Squad all responded to the scene of the fire after they received the call at 8:06 p.m. Thursday, according to Pignatello
Pignatello said the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Hennelly confirmed the fire is being investigated by detectives from the Chatham Township Police detectives and the Morris County Prosecutors Office.
