The Show Must Go On: 'Music Man' to show Sat., Sun.
Meredith Wilson's classic musical comes performed on Chatham Middle School's stage.
A cast of 67 students from Chatham Middle School will take the stage Sunday for a production of "The Music Man ... Jr."
Students will perform an abbreviated versiond of Meredith Wilson's classic musical at 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday after the Friday show was postponed because of the winter storm.
Though the show is shortened, director Alison Caravano promises the soul of the show remains.
The cast, Caravano said, "is one of the most gifted groups of young people I have ever had the privilege of directing." The students have rehearsed two hours each day since November.
Besides the cast, there is also a set of 30 crew and design volunteers and 36 hair and make-up collaborators. Veronica Shaw and Nina Packie served as the musical director and choreographer, respectively.
Performances begin at 6 p.m. on Feb. 7, with senior citizens invited to attend free of charge. Further performances will be at 7 p.m. on Feb. 8 and 9. Tickets are $6 and can be purchased in the main office at Chatham Middle School, or at the door.
“The talents the students share in this performance are truly spectacular,” Caravano said.
