Lata Kenney is an incumbent member of the Board of Education of the School District of the Chathams. She is running unopposed to keep her seat on the board as a representative from Chatham Township for a one-year term.
Kenney was appointed to the board after Lara Yates moved out of state in 2010. This is the first time her name will appear on a ballot for the Board of Education. She has an MBA in finance from New York University and formerly worked at JP Morgan Chase.
Incumbent Alan Routh is also running to represent the township for a three-year term. Kim Cronin is challenging him for his seat.
Elections for the Board of Education, and on the budget for the School District of the Chathams, will be held on April 27 from 2 to 9 p.m. Borough residents will vote at Chatham Middle School, and township residents will vote at Gymnasium C at Chatham High School.
April 6 is the last day to register to vote for school elections. Residents who wish to vote using a mail-in ballot, which is available through the Morris County Clerk's office, must send in their requests by April 20. The application can be picked up in person until April 26 at 3 p.m.
