'Legally Blonde' Premieres on Chatham High Stage
The story of a young woman's road to 'self-discovery' is something anyone can relate to, director says.
The show included a dinner for the seniors in Chatham High's cafeteria following the final dress rehearsal, courtesy of the Chatham High Theater Department.
Kelly Cole, who plays Elle Woods, and Dexter, who plays her dog Bruiser, will sit and sign autographs following the Saturday matinee performance at 1 p.m. "We thought that might appeal to some of the kids in the audience," Lynn Polan, the play's director said.
Based on the 2001 movie of the same name, "the story is of a California blonde sorority girl who gets dumped by her boyfriend," Polan said, and the "self-discovery story" is something anyone who has ever been dumped can relate to.
The Theater Department and a cast of 54 students bring the story of Elle Woods to the Chatham High stage for performances at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28; 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 1; and 1 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 2.
Tickets are $12 or $10 for students and seniors and can be purchased at the door or online at chslegallyblonde.brownpapertickets.com.
