Language Supervisor Tapped as Middle School Principal
Jill Gihorski will serve in the position from Jan. 1 to June 30, 2013.
The Board of Education will hold a special meeting Monday with one item on the agenda: to vote on the approval of Jill Gihorski as the new principal of Chatham Middle School (CMS).
According to the agenda, Gihorski will serve as CMS principal through June 30, 2013. She will be paid $142,000.
Gihorski currently serves as the supervisor for World Languages in the district, a role she will have to resign before she begins as the CMS principal on Jan. 1, 2013.
Board of Education President Tom Belding declined to comment on Gihorski's appointment. Dennis Fyffe, the interim superintendent of the School District of the Chathams, said "there is every anticipation" that Gihorski will take on the role of CMS principal permanently.
Robert Accardi, the current principal of CMS, announced his retirement in April. His retirement is effective Dec. 31.
The board meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Chatham Township Municipal Building. A complete agenda for Monday's meeting may be found in the Photos & Documents section of this article.
