Cops: Truck Driver Strikes Train Overpass, Utility Pole
Driver issued summons for careless driving.
Chatham Borough Police issued a summons for careless driving to a truck driver after the man hit a train overpass and utility pole.
At 5:16 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26, Police Sgt. Jayson Cittrich investigated an accident on Watchung Avenue, police said.
A box truck driven by Troy Franklin, 24, of Vauxhall was traveling east on Watchung when the truck struck the NJ Transit overpass, according to police.
Before police arrived, Franklin struck a utility pole as he attempted to back out from under the bridge, police said.
The truck was towed from the scene, according to police.
