Welcome to the new Get Out/Grab & Go column! For your convenience Patch has combined these two columns and will run them Thursday mornings, so you can plan your weekends with some of the many activities happening in the Chatham area.

Here are this week's picks:

The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band at The Sanctuary Concerts Series
Where/When: At the Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township at 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 16.
Why Go: Because the band will perform hits from some of its platinum albums, and admission will include desserts, coffee, and soft-drinks.
Pricing: $30.

Good Morning Bird Stroll
Where/When: 9:30 a.m. at the Great Swamp Outdoor Education Center in Chatham on Sunday, April 17.
Why Go: Because, whether you bring your binoculars or borrow some at the event, you can take an early morning stroll and check out some birds. For ages 10 or older.
Pricing: $3.

Recycle a Bicycle
Where/When: From 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Washington Avenue Elementary School in Chatham on Saturday, April 16.
Why Go: Because gently used children’s bikes can be brought to the school for donation, and the bikes will go to children who cannot afford bikes.

Powerflow Yoga for a Cause
Where/When: From 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 16 at Powerflow Yoga in Chatham.
Why Go: Because guests can try on or purchase Stella and Dot jewelry. Twenty-five percent of proceeds will benefit Red Cross relief efforts in Japan.
Pricing: Depends on what you buy.

‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ at The Shakespeare Theatre
Where/When: 11 a.m. at The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey in Madison on Saturday, April 16.
Why Go: Because you like Shakespeare and you want to see a mid-day performance of one of his most notable works.
Pricing: Prices vary and are available online.

GRAB & GO KIDS PLANNER

Oral Cancer Screening: Madison YMCA Healthy Kids Day
Where/When: From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Madison Area YMCA on Saturday, April 16.
Why Go: Because there will be a carnival atmosphere for the kids, and a free two-minute oral cancer examination will be offered.
Pricing: Free.

Tot Tours: Dinosaurs
Where/When: At 10 a.m. at the Morris Museum on Friday, April 15.
Why Go: Because children from age 2 to age 5, along with their families, can explore the museum’s new exhibit, “Digging Dinosaurs.”
Pricing: Free with museum admission.

 

New Jersey Trail Series Race
Where/When: From 8 a.m. to noon at Schooley’s Mountain County Park in Long Valley on Saturday, April 16.
Why Go: Because there will be a 5-, 10- and 15-mile race as a part of the NJ Trail Series of trail races that take place throughout northwestern New Jersey.
Pricing: $30 for the 5-mile race; $35 for 10-mile race; $40 for 15-mile race.

New Jersey Ballet: Cinderella
Where/When: At 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 17 at the Community Theatre in Morristown.
Why Go: If you like Cinderella, or if you like ballet, then this family show should be a great way to spend the afternoon.
Pricing: Tickets range from $12 to $15 and are available online.
