Committee to Address Hillside Avenue Buildings

Buildings for salvaging and demolition are listed as a discussion item for Thursday night's meeting.

The Chatham Township Committee is expected to discuss Thursday night the salvage and demolition of buildings on Hillside Avenue.

The committee purchased a parcel of land along Hillside Avenue known as the Averett property in 2011, with the plan to develop and preserve the land as open space for the public. Several existing buildings on the property will be demolished to make way for the committee's plans.

The property includes three buildings in a variety of conditions. The committee plans to "return [the area] to woodlands," according to Committee Member Bailey Brower Jr., and the buildings do not have anything they could sell second-hand.

The committee will also discuss how many liquor licenses are in town.

Also on the agenda is the introduction of ordinances amending uniform construction code fees and salaries.

The agenda contains no reference to the family farming ordinance, which was recently edited and approved by the Planning Board as a conditional use for qualifying properties.

The Chatham Township Committee meets Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Chatham Township Municipal Building. The full agenda may be found in the photos section of this article.
