Sgt. Robert Sweetin and Parking Enforcement Officer Nicolina Balsam have both submitted letters of resignation for the purpose of retirement to Police Chief Philip J. Crosson.
Sweetin has become an increasingly high profile officer in the department thanks to his work as the borough's Traffic Safety Officer. In this capacity he has worked with motorists, pedestrians, downtown organizations and officials to improve the borough's vehicular and pedestrian safety and devise better parking throughout the downtown area.
His contribution to the borough has been lauded by Mayor Bruce Harris, Former Mayor Nelson Vaughan, members of the Chatham Borough Council, members of the Traffic Safety Committee and Crosson.
