Applicants Sought for Board of Education Vacancy
Two applicants have contacted the board so far.
The vacancy was created by Stephen Barna, who submitted a letter of resignation on Friday, Sept. 14.
Peter Daquila, the district's business administrator, said two applicants have come forward as of Thursday, both of whom are currently in interviews.
When asked how many applicants he would like to have, Belding answered three to five.
The term expires in April, with the opportunity to run for another three-year term in the 2013 school elections, also in April.
Barna began his time on the board as an interim member, replacing a former member. He was then elected to two three-year terms representing the borough on the Board of Education.
Anyone interested should submit a Letter of Interest and a Statement of Qualifications to the School District of the Chathams.
Belding said candidates will be interviewed by the remaining board members from Chatham Borough: himself, Board Vice President Jill Weber and Richard Connors.
"We don't have a deadline yet, but anyone who is interested should send in their information as soon as possible," Belding said.
The board next meets on Monday night.
