Avery Pedell Excells in Performing Arts

The Chatham student has been involved in various productions.

Know a great kid who made Eagle Scout or did your local soccer team take the championship? They may be our next Patch Whiz Kids honoree.

Each week, Chatham Patch seeks suggestions from readers for individual kids, youth groups, teens and even sports teams that wow us with their accomplishments.

Here's this week's selection:

Whiz Kid of the Week: Avery Pedell

Whiz Kid's School/Church: Chatham Middle School/Corpus Christi

Whiz Kid's Major Activity: Performing arts

Whiz Kid's Accomplishments: Avery has been interested in the performing arts since she was six, after watching her older sister take voice lessons and acting workshops. She started getting involved herself and has performed in various shows since then, most recently “Annie Jr.” in which she played Lily St. Regis. She has participated in shows with Kids of the Arts in Mountain Lakes and Pixie Dust Players, who perform at the Summit Playhouse.

Avery says she loves all aspects of performing, but particularly enjoys singing. “My favorite part is being able to become another person,” she says. “When you step into a role, you start to understand who they are, and you find yourself becoming that person. It gives you a chance to be someone you never thought you could be.”

Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness: Try your best and remember to have fun.
