Arminio's Offers More Than Pizza
The Italian eatery on Main Street in Chatham has a wide selection of entrees available.
It's easy to walk into Arminio's Italian Corner in Chatham and think of nothing but pizza. The slices are all on display and the ovens, located in the front of the store and plainly visible from the door and windows on the street, give off the delicious scent of thincrust bread coupled with tomato sauce and cheese.
A pie from Arminio's is never a bad way to feed a starving and impatient crowd, but the next time you crave a hearty, full meal, don't discount this eatery, for the menu, once you look at it, offers far more than just pizza.
In fact, the menu is so startlingly wide that it was difficult to decide what to order. All the standards of chicken and pasta entrees are represented, from marsala to francese, and other options of pasta and seafood or entree salads all looked appetizing.
Finally I decided on the chicken arminio, which was delightfully surprising. The sauce tasted homemade, and seemed neither too thick nor too sweet. The salty artichoke hearts and roasted peppers were the main attraction of the dish, combining to create an interesting change to such a standard meat. The entree also came with bread, a side salad and the option of steamed vegetables or pasta, more than enough to sate a famished appetite. Long after the chicken was gone I was using the bread to scoop up the last of the sauce.
Arminio's is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 10 p.m. Sunday. Most dishes are under $20.
