Albanese Makes 16 Saves in Hockey Shoot-Out

The Cougars defeated Scotch Plains-Fanwood Friday.

ice hockey goalie C.J. Albanese made 16 saves out of 16 attempts on the goal by Scotch Plains-Fanwood Saturday, helping secure a shut-out victory for the Cougars.

Teddy Simson, assisted by Colby Collier and Trip Burke, scored with less than 30 seconds on the clock in the first period. Bryn Casey and Robert Graziano each scored in the second period at 4:32 and 12:36, respectively. Graziano was assisted by Jason Pitonyak.

Power plays for Chatham were 1 for 1, while Scotch Plains-Fanwood power plays were 0 for 2. Out of 37 shots on goal, Chatham scored three times for a 3-0 victory.

Other results from the weekend sports games:

  • The boys basketball team defeated Dover 53-43 Friday.
  • The girls basketball team defeated Dover 46-13 Friday.
  • The boys JV basketball team defeated Dover 53-39 Friday.
  • The girls track team competed in the New Balance Games in New York City. They ultimately finished 15th out of 42. The 4-X-800 meter relay team of Julie Williamson, Tara Malanga, Kristen Maiorano and Tara Hanley at the state relays with a time of 9:56:67.
  • The boys track team competed in the New Balance Games in New York City. They ultimately finished 23rd out of 63. The 4-X-800 meter relay team had a "great performance," according to head coach Patrick Barry. Anthony Malatesta led with a time of 2:07, followed by Luke Freeman at 2:09, Joe Kraemer at 2:05 and Corey Black at 2:07. Their total time of 8:29 was 8 seconds faster than their time at the Morris County Relays.
