St. Patrick Wins Handball Tournament

Eighth grade students from St. Patrick School in Chatham and Our Lady of Peace academy in New Providence met this week for the twelth annual “Passaic Cup” handball game. Teams of 16 were selected from each school by PE instructor JIm Gargiulo, who teaches at both schools. The teams were coached by students, who prepared their teams for the event. St. Patrick School coach Nora Johnson led her team to a 58-49 victory, the eleventh victory for St. Patʼs in the twelve year history of the event.

The friendly rivalry is just one way in which the schools celebrate Catholic Schools week each year. Catholic
