Members of the Chatham High Cross Country team helped guide and encourage Lafayette students along the 2.6-mile course, which started at Lafayette Avenue School, looped around Longwood, Washington and Fairview Avenues and finished back on the school green.
The race is noncompetitive; every participant gets the same medal, and there are no awards given for time or placements.
Chairs Laura Nonnemacher and Marianne Carillo said the Mini-Marathon Committee is still finalizing expenses and a donation will be made to the Chatham Senior Center.
Sponsors of the Mini-Marathon include Triple Win Sales, Lavalette Capital, The Girl Project at The Connection for women and families, Creative Speech Solutions, Bauer Automotive, The Chatham Club, The bossyshopper.com, Bowker, and Pinkava's Motor Company. The Chatham Athletic Foundation made a contribution towards water bottles for each runner.
