The Corpus Christi 8th grade boys basketball team competes in the Varsity division of the CYO program. The team is coached by Patrick Grady, a volunteer parishioner, who's passion for basketball was the motivator to coach at Corpus Christi. Patrick's teams are very competitive in the CYO program and play in a Hoop Heaven league and enter multiple AAU basketball tournaments. Assisting Coach Grady are Rich Hagens and Tim Delaney. "We have high expectations for this year's team - focusing on winning our division and winning the CYO basketball championship in March" states Coach Grady. He adds, "the players have put forth tremendous dedication to the CYO basketball program and we are poised to win it all in our final year of competition". Corpus Christi beat Assumption on Sunday, with a final score of 52 to 31.
Many of this year's players plan to participate in high school basketball. "CYO basketball sets a solid foundation for playing high school basketball" explains Coach Hagens. The team plays their next home game on Sunday, December 12th at Corpus Christi gym. Tipoff time is 5:30pm.
