Chatham Township Environmental Commission visits Southern Boulevard School

Earth Day was celebrated by the Southern Boulevard Elementary School and two members from the Chatham Township Environmental Commission were there to help educate the children and parents on environmental protection and conservation. Handouts included "idle free" stickers for cars, magnets on water conservation tips, as well as information on planning questions for residential and commercial projects, and how to grow and keep a healthy lawn with organic fertilizers including tips on environmentally friendly lawn care.  A section of a tree was used for demonstration purposes and the children who could count the number of rings from the tree (which was over 100 years old) earned  a special "environmental hero" sticker.
