Another Excellent Season for Corpus Christi 8th Grade Girls
Tuesday, Dec 7, 2010 - Chatham, NJ The Corpus Christi 8th grade girls basketball team is poised for another excellent season in the Varsity division of the CYO program. This year's team returns 8 players from last year's team and has added a new player. The team is coached by Drew McKenzie, who has college-level playing experience and assisted by David Sullivan. "The girls have worked very hard in preseason and have been impressive in the first two games" say Coach McKenzie. "With only 9 players on the team, practices are intense as every player has a role to perform and either Coach McKenzie or myself step in as our 10th player" states Dave Sullivan. The team's offense has progressed each year as the players mature and become better basketball players. Many of the players are looking ahead to playing high school basketball, and a few hopefully will continue playing basketball at the college level, just like Coach McKenzie. In last week's game, Corpus Christi defeated St. Rose 37 to 33. The next game for the 8th grade girls team is on December 12th at St. Therese of Succasunna. The 8th grade girls team returns to the Corpus Christi gym on Sunday, December 19th for a game against Our Lady of the Lake - Sparta at 12:15pm.
